The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has decided to expel five students for life and cancel the academic certificates of two others, including Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Mostafizur Rahman, over rape of an outsider woman inside a bush near Mir Mosharraf Hossain hall.

The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting led by vice-chancellor Prof Md Nurul Alam on Sunday.

The certificates of main accused Mostafizur Rahman, student of 45th batch of International Relations, and his accomplice Murad Hussain of 46th batch have been cancelled, said registrar Abu Hasan.
