Daily Bangla Times: Three children drowned in a pond in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Saturday afternoon. The deceased were Zahid Mondal, 10, son of Bachchu Mondal, Ridoy, 10, son of Panzur, residents of Sara Gopalpur village, and Anika, 12, daughter Akijal of Mazdia village in the upazila.

Bachchu Mondal said his son Zahid, his sister's daughter Anika, and Panzu's son Ridoy went to Manik Hajir Pukur (pond) in Sara Gopalpur area around 11 am to take a bath and went missing.

Later, they were rescued from the pond and rushed to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, he added.

The facility's physician Maliha Fairoz said the children died before they were brought here.
