Daily Bangla Times: Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) police unit is being formed to ensure security and safety checks at every station of Metro Rail in Dhaka. After the approval of the Prime Minister, the journey of the MRT Police will officially begin soon.

Police headquarters Additional deputy director general (operation and management) Faruk Ahmed revealed the information on Sunday afternoon (April 30).

He said that recently the Secretary Committee has approved the formation of MRT Police. Initially, the journey will start with 231 manpower.

In reply to a question regarding the tasks of MRT police unit, he said our MRT police will work in the same way as MRT police work in other countries. Basically, the MRT Police will work to maintain order, safety of passengers and security of the metro rail facility.
