Daily Bangla Times: Around 5000 shops have been burnt into ashes in the massive fire broke out at Bangabazar Market in the capital.  The loss of the fire may be around Tk 2000 crore. Md Helal Uddin, president of Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, said this while visiting the spot on Tuesday noon.

He also demanded a primary allocation of Tk 700 crore for compensation. Traders have lost everything in the massive fire.  They had to incur loss due to Covid-19 in last two years. They had a plan to recover the loss ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitir and they stored huge goods. But all goods worth crores of taka were destroyed by fire, he said.
