At least five people were killed after a truck hit a CNG run-auto-rickshaw in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat District on Monday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, Banglanews correspondent reports. 

Khetlal police station officer-in-charge (OC) Rajibul Islam said efforts are on to identify the victims. 

The truck hit the auto-rickshaw which was on its way to Khetlal town from Jaipurhat with passengers in Malipara area, leaving two of them dead on the spot.

Three others succumbed to their injuries after being taken to hospital, he said, adding that another one was undergoing treatment there. 

The bodies were sent to the Jaipurhat Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
