The effects of winter and dry weather have reduced the breeding of dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes. Because of this, dengue infection has also decreased. Last January, 556 people were affected by dengue across the country. However, six people died during this time. Among them, three people died in Dhaka and three in Chittagong.


This information was given in the report of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Wednesday (February 1).




According to the notification, 14 people have been admitted to different hospitals due to dengue infection in the last 24 hours. Currently, the number of dengue patients admitted to various public and private hospitals in the country has reached 50.


From January 1 to January 31, the number of dengue patients admitted to various hospitals is 566. Out of which 272 people are in Dhaka and 294 people outside Dhaka. In January, 510 people recovered and were discharged from the hospital. Out of which 243 are from Dhaka and 267 from outside Dhaka.


Incidentally, in 2022, a record 281 people died of dengue throughout the country. 27 people died of dengue in the last month of the year, December. At the same time, 62 thousand 382 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue throughout the year.
