Major (Retd) Hafiz goes to Delhi for knee operation

BNP vice-chairman Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed on Thursday went to India's capital New Delhi for knee operation. He left Dhaka for New Delhi by an Air India flight at 2:30pm on Thursday (December 14), said BNP chairperson's media wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan.

He said Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was scheduled to leave for New Delhi on Tuesday last (December 12) along with his wife Dilara Hafiz. But, the immigration authorities at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport did not allow her to leave for New Delhi on that day. Subsequently his wife left for New Delhi.

Then on Wednesday, Hafiz Uddin filed a writ petition with the High Court against barring him to go abroad. In his writ, he pleaded to the High Court to give directive to the authorities concerned of the government to accord him permission to leave Bangladesh and return from abroad.

He is scheduled to undergo his knee operation at Fortis Hospital in New Delhi on December 16 next.
