1.04 crore cattle sacrificed in country

Daily Bangla Times: A total of 1,00,41,812 cattle have been sacrificed across the country in the holy Eid-ul-Azha this year--one of the major religious festivals of the Muslims.

Iftekhar Hossain, public relations officer of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, revealed the information on Friday (June 30).

According to the information gleaned from different divisions across the country, a total of 25,48,184 sacrificial animals were slaughtered in Dhaka division on the occasion of Eid this year; 20,51,777 animals slaughtered in Chattogram division; 21,32,469 animals sacrificed in Rajshahi division; 9,49,581 animals slaughtered in Khulna division; 4,30,673 animals sacrificed in Barishal division; 3,94,039 animals slaughtered in Sylhet division; 11,49,187 animals sacrificed in Rangpur division and 3,85,902 animals slaughtered in Mymensingh division.

A total of 99,50,763 cattle were sacrificed across the country during Eid-ul-Azha last year. This year 91,049 more animals have been sacrificed than the last year. Some 90,93,242 animals were slaughtered in 2021.
