Vehicles won't be allowed on road without insurance

Daily Bangla Times: No vehicle can move on the road without insurance. If anyone drives without insurance, will have to pay a fine of up to Tk 3000. Besides, the police can file a case if they want.

According to the related sources, it may take three to four months to amend the existing law. Among the vehicles on the road, all types of motor vehicles including motorcycles, passenger buses, private and official cars and trucks must be insured.

The Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance sent a letter in this regard to the Road Transport and Highways Department of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges last Monday.

Bangladesh Road Transport and Highways Department Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri confirmed this information to the media on Tuesday night. He said, I have received the letter. I will talk to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader about the matter. Then the next steps will be taken.

Earlier road transport insurance was mandatory. However, in 2018, it was abolished by amending the law. On March 1, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the opening ceremony of the National Insurance Day gave instructions to ensure that no vehicle can travel except insurance.
