People have no faith in the election system: GM Quader

Daily Bangla Times: Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader today said the people of the country do not have any confidence in the electoral system. He said this while holding a joint meeting of the party's presidium members and parliamentarians at the JP chairman's Banani office.

Quader, also the deputy leader of the opposition in parliament, said, "We have come to know from various sources that a mayoral candidate of Awami League has announced what percentage of votes he will get to be elected in the polls. He is also telling how many votes his rival candidates will get in the city corporation polls."

"The people of the country do not have confidence in its election system," he said without disclosing the name.

The JP Chairman said, "Our candidates will fight till the end in the city corporation elections. We are participating for getting elected. If the elections are free, fair and impartial, our candidates will do well."

The JP chairman also said that the safety of foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka should be ensured.

"We want assurance of safety of diplomats according to international standards so that diplomats can work safely in our country."

GM Quader drew government's attention in this regard. Regarding the political situation of the country, GM Quader said it may become chaotic.

"Both the government and the opposition camp are at risk. So, we will have to make the right decision in politics. The party that cannot make the right decision will be in danger. A wrong decision in politics will have dire consequences," the JP boss also said.
