Bangladesh lose second ODI against Sri Lanka

Daily Bangla Times: Bangladesh Women's cricket team came out second best in the second ODI of the two-match series against Sri Lanka as they lost the rescheduled match by 58 runs at the P.Sara Oval in Colombo on Thursday.

A dismal batting effort saw the women in red and green get bundled out for 128 with one ball remaining in pursuit of Sri Lanka's 187 in a match that was reduced to 30 overs.

Batting first, Sri Lanka managed 186 for five, courtesy of a 60-ball 64 from skipper Chamari Athapatthu and a 48-ball 45 from Harshitha Samarawickrama.

Bangladesh's reply didn't get off to a great start as they lost three wickets—Shamima Sultana (5), Murshida Khatun (16), and Sobhana Mostary (11) -- within the powerplay.

Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty and Fargana Hoque dug in with a 61-run stand but both failed to carry on, with the captain top-scoring with a 51-ball 37, and the latter chewing up 46 deliveries for her 24 before they were dismissed.

No other batter after them could reach double figures as the visitors were skittled out for 128.

Sri Lanka off-spinner Oshadi Ranasinghe starred with a fifer, giving away 34 runs in her six overs.

The visitors will play a T20I tour-match on Sunday before gearing up for a three-match T20I series, with the first match scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
