No threat on Pahela Boishakh: IGP


Daily Bangla Times: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has said that maximum security will be provided during the Pahela Boisakh festival. So far, no threat has reached to us regarding this day.


He said this in reply to query after inspecting the security system of shopping malls and markets on the occasion of the upcoming Eid on Monday (April 10) noon.

The IGP also told reporters at Bashundhara Shopping Complex premises that security has been strengthened in markets, shopping malls and roads across the country on the occasion of Pahela Boishakh and holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Security arrangements have been made during Iftar, Sehri and Taraweeh prayers. Metropolitan Police, District Police, RAB, APBn and various intelligence agencies are coordinating to ensure security.


He said police in plain clothes and uniforms have been deployed in Bashundhara shopping complex of the capital. Security arrangements have been made in all the markets of Dhaka city and security zones have been created at different levels. Traffic arrangements have also been strengthened for easy movement to the market. Even, DMP Commissioner is also performing duty on the road. Besides, he is also standing with the traffic police in a row to ensure the traffic system. Additional commissioners are also on duty on the road till Iftar to reduce traffic congestion. However, due to some real problems, despite our sincerity, we may not be able to provide the level of service expected by the people.
