Mushfiqur, spinners put Bangladesh on top against Ireland

Daily Bangla Times: After getting two quick wickets last day Ireland started the day with lot of confidence and hope but the old cliche Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim spoiled Irish' party.

Ireland got Mominul Haque earlier the day. Mark Adair got the leg stumps of Mominul and he had to get back to pavilion scoring only 17.

Captain Shakib and Mushfiqur made the Irish bowling lineup insipid. Particularly Shakib, he was dealing with boundaries and was churning out runs in every overs. Rahim was keeping the other end alive and the partnership propelled Bangladesh to a safe zone from the early danger.

They together made 159 runs and outbatted Ireland. Shakib got a faint edge of Andy McBrine and Tucker took the catch. Shakib who was well set for a test hundred had to go without getting ton for 13 runs. Shakib made 87 runs off only 94 balls and he struck 14 boundaries in this fluent knock.

Mushfiqur Rahim was adamant and was eyeing for a hundred, while the new batter Litton Das had a brisk start. A thick outside edge brought Mushfiq's 10th test hundred. While Litton was clobbering the Irish bowlers. He raced to 43 off only 41 balls with 8 boundaries. Although Litton was gone against run of play game.

But the new batter Mehedi Miraz kept ticking the scoreboard. The pair added 45 runs together before Mushfiqur fell to McBrine at his individual 126. He smoked 15 boundaries with a six.

Miraz on the other hand, notched up his fifty and Bangladesh posted 369 runs on the board. Andy McBrine picked up 6 wickets conceding 118 runs.

Ireland had to bat around 20 overs before stumps and that phase brought death to Ireland's hope. Shakib trapped McCollum infront of pads for a golden duck while Taijul struck twice. Shakib got Curtis Campher in the 7th over and Ireland fell into the deep sea.

Harry Tector and Peter Moor negotiated the final overs properly but still they trailing by 128 runs. Bangladesh will be looking to bowl them out before any further threat.
