Bangladesh dream something big about the ICC ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in India this year. Former Indian skipper, also former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly speech would inspire them. On his visit to Dhaka, he expressed optimism that Bangladesh will play in the semifinals of the next World Cup.


Talking to media on Friday (February 24), Sourav said, “I have high expectations. I expect (Bangladesh) in the quarter finals and semifinals. If there is a bit of form and the luck fovours. If your specialist spinners and pacers are in form, they can reach the quarter finals or semifinals.



Sourav Ganguly was the skipper of Indian side in the Tigers’ first Test opponent. He has good knowledge about the cricket of this country. The depth of the team is also at the fingertips of the former president of the Indian Cricket Board. So, he gave his opinion about the World Cup going to be held in his country in October-November.


Earlier, Bangladesh’s best success in the World Cup is reaching the quarter final. In 2015, the boys in green and red skidded off the World Cup after losing to India in Australia.


Meanwhile, Sourav, who came to Dhaka on a one-day visit, will leave for India this afternoon. Yesterday, he attended a bank function after the inauguration of the DNCC Mayor’s Cup. After a meeting with BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon in the morning, he also met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In the afternoon, he attended the lunch organized by the BCB President.



Sourav is now taking a break after serving as the BCCI president for three years. The Indian Premier League (IPL) will start from next month. Sourav has been appointed as the Director of Cricket of Delhi Capitals.


Sourav said, “I was out of the field for three to four months. I was the president of BCCI as well. I was always with the games. Our (board) tenure is three years. Now I will join IPL. I watch all the cricket in Delhi Capitals.”
