BD Online Desk: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has suspended two civil aviation security officials and three Ansar personnel on charge of negligence in duty during the alleged hijack attempt of a Biman aircraft at Shah Amanat Airport in Chattogram on February 24.
Civil Aviation Secretary Mohibul Haque confirmed the news while talking to journalist on Monday, says media report.
The suspended officials are: Lehaj Uddin Bhuiyan, the civil aviation's security supervisor, Yunus Howladar, a security guard, Ansar personnel Alim Hossain, Mahfuzur Rahman and Saddam Hossain, and Air Force Sergeant Sajedul Islam.
In the video footage, it was found that the five security personnel were not performing their duties properly while scanning luggage and frisking passengers at Shahjalal International Airport, he said.Foiling his alleged bid to hijack the Biman aircraft, members of joint forces killed a miscreant, Polash Ahmed, at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on February 24.
The miscreant had been able to board the aircraft along with a toy gun dodging security arrangements at the airport.
