The commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed made the discloser emerging from a meeting with officials of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Criminal Investigation Department, Rapid Action Battalion and other law enforcement agencies at the Nirbachan Bhaban.
Helaluddin said the administration has already started monitoring social media round-the-clock to prevent fake news and propaganda before the election.
He said that the commission will constitute its own monitoring team comprising of ICT officials.
He said that the team will works alongside other government agencies in this regard to prevent misuse of social media during the polls time form Monday.
He said that the commission would take action against the people involved in conducting propaganda under the Digital Security Act 2018 and other existing laws.
On November 26, the commission held a meeting with representatives of BTRC and National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre, and top officials of other law enforcement agencies and mobile phone operators in this regard.
At that meeting, the commission asked the authorities concerned to monitor the social media round-the-clock to check the spread of propaganda and rumours over the forthcoming parliamentary polls.
