BNP selling 4,580 nomination papers


 
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed it at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office. 

He said those who collected nomination papers are still submitting their forms after filling those properly. “We’re receiving the forms and it’ll continue until tonight.”

Rizvi said they will inform journalists later about how much nomination seekers submitted their forms.

On November 12, the party formally started the sale of nomination with the purchase of three nomination papers for its jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia. The nomination seekers had to pay Tk 5,000 to buy each form while Tk 25,000 during submission.

 

Of the total 4,580 forms, 1,326 were sold on the first day on Monday while 1,896 on Tuesday, 488 on Wednesday and 402 and 468 on Friday.

Rizvi said their party’s nomination board, comprising BNP standing committee members, will start interviewing the aspirants who submitted their nomination forms from Sunday morning at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.

He said the interview will start with the nomination seekers of Rangpur division at 9am and will continue until 1:30pm.

Later, the nomination board will interview the nomination hopefuls of Rajshahi division from 2:30pm.

The interview of Khunla division’s aspirants will start at 9am while that of Barishal division at 3pm on Monday.

The nomination board will start the interview of Chattogram division’s aspirants at 9am on Tuesday while that of Cumilla and Sylhet divisions from 3pm the same day.

The interview of Mymensingh division’s aspirants will start at 9am while that of Faridpur division at 3pm on Wednesday.

On November 12, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced a fresh reschedule for the 11th parliamentary elections saying the polls will be held on December 30 instead of December 23.

The last date for submission of nomination papers is November 28 instead of November 19.
